Uniforms and Procedures

Uniforms

Uniforms are available for purchase from Harmonic Motion’s Uniform Shop located in  the studio or from your favorite dancewear shop.  Please ask instructor for the brand and item # of leotard required for class.

Required Uniforms

Preballet: Leotards with thin white socks for girls (ballet tights not required), plain white T-shirt and black tights for boys.

Ballet I through Ballet V: Leotards with Euro pink tights for girls (no underwear under leotards please), a plain white T-shirt and black tights and sports belt for boys. 

Adult: Female ballet students may wear solid color leotards, black or pink tights, pink leather or canvas ballet shoes and ballet skirt.  Male students will wear a plain white T-shirt and black tights and sports belt.

Hair:  Please have dancer’s hair pulled up off neck in a pony tail or claw clip so that I can see the neck line.  It is also important to have the hair up when turning so that it doesn’t get into eyes and cause a fall!

Shoes (all levels):

Pink satin ballet shoes for preballet levels, other levels:  European pink leather ballet shoes for girls, black leather ballet shoes for boys (Bloch,  Sansha or other professional brands are required).  Students will not be allowed in class with Wal-Mart or Payless ballet shoes.

*Students in the professional ballet program will wear ribbons on ballet shoes.

*All students must wear the appropriate uniform for their class.  Ballet shoes must be worn in class.  No other shoes will be allowed.  No bare feet will be allowed.  No underwear is to be worn underneath ballet attire.  Hair MUST be pulled up in a bun.

 

School Rules:

  • No running, rough housing or loud voices in the school
  • Use inside voices in the lobby/dressing rooms.
  • Students are not permitted in the uniform room or teacher workroom without permission .
  • Please keep food, drinks and candy in designated areas.
  • No rosin allowed in the studio
  • Cover-ups must be worn to and from the school at all times.
  • Ballet shoes should not be worn outside of the school and street shoes should not  be worn in the studio (except for the teacher's).
  • Studeints that arrive less than 15 minutes late must ask the teacher for permission to participate in the lesson.
  • Students that arrive more than 15 minutes late may not participate that day.
  • Children are not permitted to leave the school until their parent/guardian has arrived.  Please notify us if someone other than the parent will be picking up the student.

Make-up classes: 

If your dancer misses a class he/she can make up the class at another time.  If their particular level is not offered, he/she can make up the class in the next level down.  Students are required to wear their regular uniform to make-up classes.

Classroom Rules:

  • Be courteous and respectful
  • be quiet and have good listening
  • If you have a question, raise your hand
  • Be on time/be prepared (in full uniform)

 

 

Lesson Rules:

  • Always face the teacher
  • Always remain standing and practice good posture without fidgeting
  • Always practice reverence to the teacher and/or guest when entering and exiting the studio space
  • Always have a pleasant expression

Rehearsal Rules:

  • Always arrive early
  • Always remain standing and and attentive during rehearsal.
  • Always practice reverence to the teacher and/or guest when entering and exiting the studio space
  • Always have a pleasant expression
  • Come to rehearsal dressed appropriately in a leotard and tights with the correct shoes, and hair up.
  • Excused absences include sickness with a fever of 101 degrees or throwing up.
  • Family emergencies are excused
  • The first unexcused absence
  • will result in removal from the pieces of choreography missed while absent.
  • The second unexcused absence will result in removal from the program or performance.
  • Performance fees and costume fees are non-refundable  if the dancer is removed from the program for unexcused absence.
  • Performance fees and costume fees are non-refundable if dancer drops out of performance for a family crisis, death, sickness or emergency.
